Amani Hostel
The Amani hostel is a 3-story building in Chamvino with classrooms on the ground floor, as well as offices for the social work and physiotherapy staff. There are rooms for volunteers and visitors on the two top floors. There are 10 bedrooms, which are very basic, some of the Amani youth and other staff members stay in them but they are mostly for volunteers and visitors.
Here we have two types of rooms single rooms that cost us$30 and self contained us$35 per day for their accommodation. This is also to help keep the hostel clean and respectable for people staying there.
The Amani Hostel Staff (Vailet) have the responsibility to maintain the hostel, which includes cleaning the rooms, bathroom and landing, and to make sure that the bathroom has enough water in the tub so that the volunteers can use the water when it is needed.
There is running water most of the time in the hostel but sometimes the water runs out so volunteers are expected to use the water from in the tub. This water is for washing yourselves and for putting down the toilet when you have finished so that the toilet is clean for the next individual.
